As I keep telling people, firepiles fit into a very narrow demographic of the

0:04.7

population. We're eager, just to go, we're over-confident and like each other

0:10.0

because we're almost the same as each other. When I meet the guy who was to train me

0:14.4

on the Mi-21, I walked into his hotel room and it was nine o'clock in the

0:18.9

morning and he put a glass of schliver bits in the anus and said, let's go test

0:23.7

Hello and welcome to the Fighter Pilot podcast. This is episode 168. I am your

0:50.5

host Vincent Iolo Carl Sangello and we will get to our interview, which is a

0:55.1

service of the US military and I personally knew 15 such individuals. I was

1:24.1

certainly around for many more, but I could recall the names of 15 two of

1:28.4

which perished right in front of me actually and so I used to wear that number

1:31.9

on the back of my helmet as my own little tribute and then this morning I went

1:35.5

to a ceremony here in Coronado where I live that was full of pomp and

1:40.2

circumstance and speeches and 21 guns salute and taps and it was a pretty

1:44.8

memorable. So I hope you've had a good holiday and by the time you'll hear

1:49.1

this it'll be over but I hope when you are enjoying some downtime that you

1:53.0

remembered those who guaranteed our freedoms by paying the ultimate sacrifice.
