I'm here to recap the news, notes, and action from Wednesday and get you ready for a small Thursday of baseball action.

So let's get you going on the news and notes from Wednesday.

Justin Steele of the Chicago Cubs was activated from the IL and made the start versus the Oakland Athletics in Wrigley.

Steele lasted two and two-thirds innings, allowing two hits and no runs with three walks and a strikeout. Steel is scheduled to face the Phillies next week, but maybe limited again

in that start. Jack Neely returned to AAA. Jorge Lopez of the Chicago Cubs was activated from

the IL on Wednesday. Lopez is sharing closing duties with Porter Hodge before landing on the IL

with a groin entry, and he'll likely return to the seventh and eighth inning rolls while Hodge takes care of closing duties for the Cubs.

Daniel Palencia returned to AAA.

Christian Scott of the New York Mets will have Tommy John surgery as well as an internal brace procedure to repair his UCL.

Scott will miss all of the 2025 season.

Matt Chapman of the San Francisco Giants was placed on the paternity list and will miss the next few games.

Casey Schmidt was recalled to take Chapman's spot.

Brandon Williamson of Cincinnati Reds left Tuesday start with an arm injury.

On Wednesday, Williamson was placed on the IL with a torn UCL, which will require Tommy John surgery.

Williamson will miss the 2025 season.

Brandon LeBrant was recalled from AAA at bullpen depth for the Reds.
