We'll start it off with the transactions, injuries, news and notes, beginning with the bad news, starting pitcher Stephen Matz, of the Cardinals, was placed on the 15-day IL with a protruding

disc in his back.

Matt's attempted to pitch through the back pain in his last start during which he

allowed four runs and couldn't escape the fourth frame.

The Southpaw will be re-evaluated next week, but back injuries can be tricky, so Matt's

may be out for a few weeks.

Kyle Lehi was recalled from the miners in a corresponding move, but it's still not clear who will take over for mats in the Cardinals rotation.

Outfielder Byron Buxton of the Twins was placed on the 10-day IL with right knee inflammation.

Buxton underwent an MRI recently, and it revealed no structural damage, so president of baseball operations, Derek Falvi expects a minimum stay for Buxton,

but given his injury history, I'd expect him to be out for at least two full weeks.

Willie Castro and Manuel Margot will see more time in center while Austin Martin rejoins the

roster in a utility capacity.

Starting pitcher Nathan Eilvaldi of the Rangers was placed on the 15-day aisle with a strained

right groin.
