Let's dive into everything baseball related from Wednesday, April 2nd,

starting it off, as always, with the transactions, injuries, news, and notes. And for the

second day in a row, we're lucky enough to escape the day with no IL placement. So we'll

skip straight to the transactions. And it was a huge day for extensions. The first one we'll

talk about involves outfielder Jackson Merrill,

who signed a nine-year, $135 million extension with the San Diego Padres. The deal can

max out at $204 million for Jackson Merrill with incentives related to plate appearances

and an MVP voting and a $30 million $2035 club option,

which can be converted to a player option if he finishes top five in MVP voting.

So with the $30 million club option, which can become a player option and incentives,

he can get all the way up over $200 million.

That's Jackson Merrill.

He was set to hit free agency after 2029, so they'll get at

least five extra years of control on Jackson Merrill. So pretty cool. He'll be in San Diego for

quite some time. Next, we have second baseman Catelle Marte, who signed a seven-year,

$116.1.5 dollar extension with the diamondbacks.
