It could be the largest media defamation settlement ever in the U.S.

In the 11th hour, Fox News settled with the voting machine company that's been

suing the network for years now. On the day a jury trial was set to begin, Fox agreed to pay

Dominion voting systems $787.5 million. Dominion has been accusing Fox of letting its own hosts and

guests amplify the message that the voting machine company helped rig the outcome of the

presidential election in favor of President Biden. Various investigations and courts have shown

that wasn't true, so Dominion sued for defamation. The last couple of years, Fox has been saying its

broadcast should be protected by the First Amendment, but yesterday it says it's settled to allow

the country to move forward from these issues. On top of the money, Fox acknowledged it aired

false information about Dominion, but says it's still committed to quote the highest journalistic

standards. Even though the case did not go to trial, Dominion says it did what it sought out to do.

Make sure lies have consequences. Now Fox faces a separate $2.7 billion lawsuit from another

voting machine company called Smartmatic USA that's making similar claims. And once again, Fox is
