Welcome to this week's foul Friday Tip of the Week, brought to you by H.P. outdoors.

Here's your host, Josh Palm, and Dan Herushka. Hey guys, Dan and Josh here with another foul Friday quick tip of the week.

This week we're going to be talking about your new gear, deploying new gear, testing your old gear around the country.

Early duck seasons are firing up, everybody's getting ready to get back out in the field,

but you got all that equipment that you put away last year or maybe you purchase this off season that you might be

taken out with you for the first time or maybe you haven't taken it out with you in several months

and you really don't know what you're getting into.

So it's really important that this time of year you're taking the time to pull out that gear and I'm going to talk

specifically to the new gear. Maybe this off season you purchased a new gun, you

purchase some new decoys, you know you got a new boat, whatever it is.

Make sure that you're taking the time to break that stuff in properly.

Take it out into the field, utilize it a little bit.

Make sure that you're comfortable with how everything functions.

Make sure you can use it in the dark. If you bought a new shotgun, make sure you're comfortable

with breaking it down, field stripping it. You never know when that gun's going to get dropped in the marsh

and you might have to clean it out on the fly. If you've never taken it apart before you're going to be kind of in a tough spot.

Also if you have been working with your dog through the off season and you're really excited that this is the year that

you're going to get to take your new pup out in the field with you and really you'll put him or her through the

paces and enjoy all the hard work in the training. If you haven't been out in the blind and in the

swamp and really tested it sort of on the ground in the field situation you really are setting yourself up for a failure

You really need to go through those trial runs to make sure that everything is comfortable and that you can be confident
