This is the Sunday Sermon series for the fourth Sunday after Epiphany in the traditional Latin Mass calendar, the year of our Lord 2023.

The epistle comes from the Apostle Paul in Romans chapter 13, verses 8 and 9 and 10.

Brethren, O no man anything except to love one another. For he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.

For you shall not commit adultery, you shall not kill, you shall not steal,

you shall not bear false witness, you shall not covet,

and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this saying, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Love does no evil to a neighbor. Love, therefore, is the

fulfillment of the law. A continuation of the Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew

Chapter 8, verses 23 through 27. At that time, Jesus got into a boat and his disciples followed him.

And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea so that the boat was covered by the waves,

but he was asleep. So they came and woke him, saying, Lord, save us, we are perishing.

But he said to them, why are you fearful, oh you of little faith?

Then he arose and rebuked the wind and the sea and there came a great calm.

And the men marveled saying, What manner of man is this that even the wind and the sea obey him?

Thus are the words of the Holy Gospel.

So one thing I certainly don't miss about the modernist world is how many sermons started off with a joke. You should never joke at mass before the

Blessed Sacrament. But you're probably listening to this in a car. You're hopefully not listening to

this before the Blessed Sacrament. So I am going to start with a joke I heard recently. There were several religious from different congregations praying the divine office and a light bulb went out.

What did they do? Well, the Benedictine closed his eyes and whispered his memorized Psalms.

The Franciscan composed a hymn to Sister Darkness. The Jesuit went and got a light bulb to

screw it in. The Redemptor said, you think this is dark. Wait till you see the pits of hell.

The Dominican philosophized about how darkness is only the absence of light. The Institute of

Christ the King priest panicked that no one any longer saw his baby blue sash
