Okay, here's the final lesson. This is where the course is going to take

a pretty significant turn, right on over into corn and soybeans.

When I was starting college at the University of Illinois,

they had an option for incoming freshmen

to take at least one course with a full professor that was limited to just a small

number of students.

This was a perk because most of the introductory courses at such a large university, either had hundreds of students in a

giant lecture hall with a professor, or if it was a smaller class, it was taught by a graduate student.

So the idea was to get incoming students closely connected with some top faculty right away.

By the time I got to register, the only course left in this program that would have fit into my schedule was a course in the agriculture school on

Introduction to Corn and Soybean Farming.

I quickly eliminated this as I was entering school as a computer science major and I concluded

that an agriculture course was a waste of my time.

I was talking through my registration choices with my dad and I remember him strongly encouraging

me to consider the corn and soybean course.

He said, you know nothing about, college is about, expanding your horizons, you shouldn't dismiss it so quickly.
