This is Tim Barton from Wall Builders with another moment from American history.

Too often today, history education excludes great black heroes from the American founding, such as Lemuel Haynes.

Haynes, abandoned as a baby, pioneered churches across Upper New England.

He became the first black American to pastor a white congregation, to receive

an honorary master's degree, and to be ordained by a mainstream Christian denomination, the

congregationalists. He was a soldier during the American Revolution, and in his churches on

George Washington's birthday, he regularly preached sermons honoring George Washington.
