The New York Times ran a relatively interesting piece recently on India's

quiet push to steal more of China's iPhone business.

That's what the headline said anyway,

though there was very little news about iPhone specifically.

About the only hard news was of a dormitory site being built by FoxCon for close

to 19,000 additional workers, presumably to make more iPhones.

Still, the article focused largely on Tamil Nadu addresses how Finnish

phonemaker Nokia actually laid the groundwork for the region's growth back in 2006, how government officials there measure their

region not by comparing themselves to other parts of India, but by comparing Tamil Nadu

to other nations, The education and infrastructure that officials say make

Tamil Nadu a world player and points like that. Kind of reads like a pitch for a document on why you should do business in Tamil Nadu.

That said, it does add color to the stories we hear from the subcontinent

and the potential for more manufacturing to move from China to India.

Apple is back to its usual right to repair fight, this time against a bill being battered around in Oregon.
