Hi, everyone. This is Troy. And this is Ruth. And this is the Foundations podcast. Welcome. And this week, we are going to tackle foundation number five, be an encourager and build each other up. Are you excited about this one, Troy? I am looking forward to encouraging our listeners.

Okay, this week's foundation was built on First Thessalonians 511.

Therefore, encourage one another and build one another up just as you are doing.

So the context of this verse is actually the day of the Lord. It's kind of the end of time.

And the Thessalonians were thinking that the resurrection had maybe already happened.

And Paul says, no, no, no, it hasn't. But it's coming. Jesus is going to come back. So encourage one another. Right. So this is one of those, therefore, in light of the fact that Jesus is coming back, encourage one another. And that is a super important context. Why do we have to encourage one another when we're waiting? Boy, you know, there's lots of stuff that comes to mind, not the least of which is so many

of the stories that Jesus told about, you know, the servant who was faithful, who was ready for

when his master came back. But then the other servants who, you know, they were horsing around. They were fooling

around. They weren't ready.

He told the story of a wedding party where they were the virgins and some of them had extra oil for their lamps because the bridegroom tarried. And then those who like really weren't prepared and they

ran out of oil and they said, give us some of your oil and no, no, no, go get your own. And they took

off to the market and they missed the bridegroom.

So this context of, you know, the Lord's Return and the need to encourage one another is really a call to stay focused.
