created by musician and sound artist Alice Boyd.

Found sounds are a new addition to As the Season Turns for 2024.

Brief, meditative episodes for listeners who wish to feel that little bit more immersed

in the natural world as we move through the year, grounding ourselves in nature and the rhythms our ancestors

have always followed. This month, Alice meets sisters and artists, clothesmaker Martha Webb

and scientific illustrator Ella Webb in their studios in Stroud, Gloucestershire.

into this month's found sound. Can you tell me who you are and what you do?

My name's Martha and I'm a clothing designer who likes to print postcard landscapes onto clothing.

My name is Ella. I'm an illustrator and I would also see a designer at the same time.

And my work predominantly focuses on, I would say, geology and volcanology, but I think recently

it's been stepping more into the botany side of things. And can you tell me how you know each

other? We're sisters. We're in Martha's studio.

Yeah, we're in my studio, which is located on my grandparents' farm, but also my aunt's farm, because they sort of share half of it now.

So yeah, I rent the space up from my aunt.

Can you tell me a bit about how the natural world inspires both

of your processes? I suppose I feel like my work, it is inspired by the land, but also

myths and legends and stories that can be created from the land as well as just the landscape.
