| 0:09.0 | We have been digging into a subject the Bible refers to as the fear of the Lord. And today I want to |
| 0:16.4 | look at a biblical example in a real life of a real individual of how he learned this concept of the fear of the Lord. |

| 0:31.0 | because the circumstances this man went through were horrendous from a human |
| 0:36.0 | perspective. All kinds of terrible things happen. Now of course I'm talking |
| 0:40.7 | about the book of Job. You know the Book of Job. |
| 0:43.2 | The Book of Job is probably one of the oldest books in the Bible in terms of when it was written. |
| 0:50.4 | And it is a fascinating story in a number of levels, but let me summarize the story for you very quickly. |
| 0:56.0 | And then we'll get into the lessons that Job learned and how he learned them. |
| 1:00.0 | You see, the Book of Job characterizes Job himself as being a righteous man a man who |
| 1:06.8 | feared the Lord a man who was very concerned about living his life rightly and his children and his family |
| 1:15.4 | living their lives rightly he wanted to honor God in the way that he lived and the book of Job throws this plot twist into it. |
| 1:25.8 | And I'm not saying to manufacture something. |
| 1:28.0 | I'm saying it's just the way it recounts it and the way it tells the story is very intriguing because it says that what was |
| 1:34.9 | happening behind the scenes in Job's life is that God himself pointed out to |
| 1:40.9 | Satan, the devil. |
| 1:43.2 | How Rightiously Job lived his life. |
| 1:46.6 | And Satan responds by saying, yeah, but if you let bad things happen to him, he will curse you. |
| 1:55.0 | And so God, get this my friends, God says to Satan, do your worst. |
| 2:00.7 | Just spare his life, that's the only restriction you have. |
| 2:04.0 | And my friend, stop for a moment and check your own spirit, check your own heart. |
