Summary

Political climate often shapes much of our daily experiences, influencing our emotions, actions, and interactions with others. The strife between political ideologies, especially in countries like the United States and Canada, has intensified over time, creating deep divisions between individuals and communities. This emotional turbulence is felt on a personal level, as the political climate touches everything from our relationships to our self-perception. As people become more polarized, there is an urgent need to step back, reflect, and find ways to engage more empathetically with one another. Join Allan Knight and Anika Jackson in this Zen Power Podcast as they explore how to achieve balance in the practice of self-love and empathy, both of which can help individuals better understand themselves and the viewpoints of others.

Anybody who reads the news, even on a daily basis, an hourly basis, things are changing so fast, so much strife, so much fighting, right?

So he was just talking to me about the perception in Canada of the United States right now and some

things that are happening. And it is really hard for anybody who's paying a lot of attention to all

1:18.4

this stuff to be mentally okay right now. So, Alan, I really want to talk about, you know,

1:25.1

you talked about Canadians feeling like they lost their best friend

1:28.6

just across the border, the United States, right? So I want to talk about that, the big perspective.

1:34.6

And then I think people will hopefully be able to see some parallels with if you actually

1:39.5

lose your best friend in life. And how do we deal with being okay and not letting all of this external

1:46.3

noise and what's going on and price of eggs and imports, exports, tariffs, get us down?

1:54.7

Well, God, it's a big question. First of all, it's hard for me to generalize about a country because I know for a fact, having

2:05.8

a lot of friends who are American, that there are 350 million people and there are many

2:12.0

different types of people. And then when you start to get into politics or philosophy or

2:16.8

whatever, you're going to have people that are either extreme left wing, and we have that in Canada.

2:22.7

Then you have others that are extreme right wing.

2:25.0

We have that in Canada.
