So, it's a new year and I've been wondering what new things 2021 will bring.

Hopefully less military murders and I mean that in complete seriousness.

Although this podcast is about military murder when I first started it, I was hoping to just tell stories from the past.

Not new, fresh stories.

But before we can move on, there is a big elephant in the room that's hanging around from 2020.

You have all heard about Vanessa Gien's disappearance and her subsequent murder and that the guy who killed her committed suicide.

Many of you also know that her family fought tooth and nail to get justice for Vanessa, even making their way to the highest office in this country, the Oval Office.

Yep, they had a personal meeting with President Trump.

Well, due to the Gien family's persistence, a month after Vanessa's remains were discovered, the secretary of the army ordered an independent review of Fort Hood,

specifically focusing on the command climate and culture.

The report was released and boy was it a beast to read.

But guess what? Your girl, Mama Margot, spent some time roaming through it and I wanted to bring you some of the highlights so that you know what went down.

And what the army is going to do to fix it.
