a daily look at the issues Americans care about most.

The growing acceptance of same-sex marriage has created high expectations for those who come out of the closet.

But there are disappointments. Instead of waiting till later in life, some young people are revealing their sexuality while they still depend on their families.

That's helped to produce an epidemic of homeless LGBT teenagers

thrown out of their homes to survive on the streets. Family rejection is sometimes violent

and often based on religion. Can faith be a way of healing families as well as breaking them up?
