As you might have seen this past Thursday, Senator Kirsten Sinema of Arizona took to the Senate floor and announced that she was four, both the John Lewis Voting Rights Act and the Freedom to Vote Act to counter voter suppression and other dangerous election laws passed in a number of states like, |
3:08.8 | oh, Georgia, Texas, Florida, and Arizona, but would not vote to reform the filibuster in the Senate there by killing those two bills. |
3:20.8 | The thing is, she said, was that we need the filibuster to ensure that there is consensus on issues so that we can make progress. |
3:30.8 | Consensus, for example, between those who feel it is all well and good for state legislatures to make laws that make it harder for people of color and college students and poor people to vote. |
