joined in studio by former Wish TV nightly news anchor Brooke Martin. She's a fabulous new book out called

Controlled Burn. It is about a horrific life event she went through that she has

used to try to inspire others. Brooke Martin, hello.

Hi guys, so good to be back.

You look so happy, that's because you got out of media.

Yeah, you know it.

I'm on the other side.

Save years off of your life.

So you have an incredible new book out. It's called

Controlled Burn and for people who may not remember you went through this just

on the outside looking in this just horrific life event, but you've turned it into a not a positive thing but a thing that has helped so many people.

You want to just kind of tell us a little bit, refresh everybody, the life event that you went through and then why you kind of

decided to write this book about it absolutely so it was about five years ago now when we were

pregnant with our second child I was the evening news anchor at Wish and had made the announcement to the viewers.

Everyone was excited and it was about 14 weeks into my pregnancy that it was discovered that our baby had an encephaly which is a condition

that allows for zero percent chance of survival and so that just began a very surreal journey for us.

Now when you say 0% chance of survival, you mean outside of the womb.

That's right.

Right. So the baby was alive, it was functioning inside of you, but was after birth they said hey there's a

zero percent chance this baby's going to survive that's right so this what what

happens is their skull just doesn't totally form right at the end of their development.
