Pope Francis will reside over the funeral of Pope Emeritus Benedict who died Saturday

at the age of 95. It's going to be an unprecedented occasion for a current pope to celebrate

the funeral of a former pope. Okay, so I have a question for you in Kevin because you

are our resident Catholic experts on this show. I don't know about that.

Where? Obviously, there has never been in our lifetime. And it's been, in fact, I think

it's been 600 years since a living pope oversaw a funeral of a pope, right? There's now,

there has not been two living popes at the same time. Correct. You go, you have to go back

600 years. No other pope took the title of Pope Emeritus and then went on to reside in

the Vatican like Benedict. Right. So my question to both of you is, where do we put the pope

funeral on the scale of importance? Like is a pope funeral? Because there's only been one in my

lifetime. Yeah. Um, and the one that was John Paul and now one that you're talking about was

huge. It was a single, single largest gathering of heads of state outside the United Nations. It

was had over two billion people watch it on TV. So John Paul's funeral was right. A tremendous.

But so, but my question was it's like it with presidents, the more beloved the president,

the more beloved, you think like the funeral would be not to in any way demean Gerald Ford's

contribution to the country. But let's face it, Ronald Reagan in the annals of history was a far

more consequential president and more beloved by many people than Gerald Ford, who was a temporary

essentially appointed president. So the Ronald Reagan funeral was a bigger deal than Gerald Ford's

funeral was because John Paul was such an influential and and consequential pope, especially

as it relates to the fall of communism. Was that a huge deal because it was John Paul or will

this pope's funeral, who let's face it? And again, you guys are the residential Catholic experts

here. He didn't appear to be very well liked even within large swathas of the swathas. Is that
