Summary

Heath Evans is a former NFL player who was selected in the third round of the 2001 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks. He would play 10 seasons with the Seahawks, Dolphins, Patriots and Saints and won a Super Bowl in 2009 with New Orleans. 

After retiring, he started a broadcasting career at NFL Network that lasted from 2012 until his firing in 2017. He is now doing work with his company "Built Ready" fighting to help men master biblical manhood both spiritually and physically. 

Today on the podcast, we talk to Heath Evans about his spiritual transformation that has seen him going from a fan to a follower of Jesus Christ. Evans also talks about his valley moments, including a divorce and a firing from his broadcasting job at NFL Network and how these moments have helped shape him as a dad and husband today and why he is all in on growing as a Christ follower.

Hey guys, this is Jason. Back in December of 2022, I was invited to go down to the Dominican Republic.

First time I'd ever been out of the country, really, used my passport and everything,

and went with Compassion International to see what their program is like.

And we went into the villages for a couple days and saw Compassion

International's work at hand. And I've got to tell you, I've never seen poverty the way I saw

poverty in the Dominican Republic. But I've also never seen hope and joy and gratitude with the kids, with the moms in these programs that compassion provides.

Compassion right now has a couple opportunities that you can be a part of, including sponsoring

a child, which I was so fortunate and blessed to be able to do when I was down in the DR.

I sponsored Samuel, a little six-year-old boy, and I got to meet him and hang out with my

But I also saw a program that Compassion is doing right now called Fight for the First with

these moms who have young kids, babies really, who that first year of life

is so critical and the resources aren't necessarily there for most kids, especially to these

moms who are teenagers and young women having babies. That first year is so critical. And so

compassionist said, you know what,

we're going to be a part of these survival programs and fight for the first year of these

babies lives. So there's opportunities to sew into that part of compassion as well. But all I can

tell you is I saw it firsthand. I've been talking about him for five years. I saw it firsthand. And Compassion

International is the real deal. I promise you, when you're sewing into their ministry, it is
