0:06.7	Chad Wolf. The guy currently in your job is a guy that's become sort of a running joke I think partly to the country I'm just
0:14.1	speaking for myself right and on my show because of the eyebrows you're sort of the
0:17.8	reverse may or just I think but but really this immigration issue has just to me trumped, no pun intended, all of the other issues at the moment.
0:28.7	It must be sort of depressing for you to see what's going on right now considering that you guys largely
0:33.6	had this under control for four years. Well I think that's right it's not only
0:37.8	depressing it's just it's frustrating it's you know not only myself but the team at DHS under President Trump worked very
0:47.4	hard to get you know some semblance of control along that border to bring control out of chaos and it didn't happen overnight, right?
0:56.1	We went through some difficult times in 2017, 18, and even 19 trying to get our hands around it.
1:02.1	We tried some things that didn't work, but we found a lot of things that did work, particularly towards the end of the administration.
1:08.0	And we were very proud of that. I think a lot of Americans agreed with us.
1:12.0	It said, hey, we get some control over this thing. I think a lot of Americans agreed with us
1:12.5	it said hey we get some you get some control over this thing
1:15.5	uh... and of course you saw all that go away on on day one of the bident administration
1:20.4	uh... and it's very hard to look at what's going on because you know deep down and not only just intuitively I know and I think most Americans know that what's going on along the border is just simply unfair.
1:33.0	I think most Americans have a basic sense of fairness.
1:35.7	And they're looking at folks just coming across that border
1:38.1	that are being released in 24 to 48 hours
1:41.4	with a plane ticket and housing. and they're just saying that's not right
1:45.4	that's not right and so there's a different way to do this and we showed that
1:50.5	during the Trump administration I think hopefully there'll be some new leadership
1:55.0	and we'll see a different way to go about it.
