0:12.2	And we begin tonight in Fort Pierce, Florida, where today there was yet another hearing in the federal criminal case over Donald Trump's hoarding of classified documents.
0:21.1	The morning session, a continuation of what we've become so used to in this case.
0:25.6	Trump appointed judge Eileen Cannon, entertaining wonky and far-fetched attempts by Trump's
0:30.8	legal team to dismiss this case.
0:33.1	But the afternoon focused on a motion brought by special counsel, Jack Smith, and centered on one of the most dangerous lies Donald Trump has ever told.
0:41.6	You might recall back in May, Trump seized upon an outrageous conspiracy theory percolating in far-right circles,
0:48.4	a theory based upon an extreme mischaracterization of the FBI search warrant of Mar-a-Lago.
0:54.5	Trump claimed in a fundraising email that President Biden and the FBI were, quote, locked and
0:59.8	loaded to take me out during the 2022 search of Mar-a-Lago. He later posted that Biden, quote,
1:05.7	authorized the FBI to use deadly lethal force. But what Trump tried to portray as an attempt on his life, really just a distortion of the standard
1:14.7	boilerplate language that accompanies every FBI search.
1:18.5	His false narrative was based entirely on this, the FBI's policy on the use of force.
1:24.6	Basically, it says that agents can respond with deadly force only when their lives
1:29.3	are in imminent danger. So that language, not unique to the search of Marlago. In fact, it was the
1:35.8	very same policy that the FBI used in their search of President Biden's home as well.
1:41.0	If anything, throughout the process of recovering those documents from Mar-a-Lago,
1:44.9	Trump got an unusual amount of leniency, including the fact that the FBI notified the Secret
1:50.3	Service before executing the warrant. Oh, one other thing. Trump and his family, they weren't
1:56.5	even at Moralago while that search took place. But none of those inconvenient facts stopped Trump's allies from amplifying his lie.
2:04.7	They're saying Trump's going to unleash assassination squads on his enemies.
2:08.7	But Biden unleashed armed agents into Trump's house, authorizing them to use deadly force.
