West Bloomfield. He's from Detroit, you know,

a shout out though. So my show is unique because we ask our guests the same first question, which is about the arc of your career.

So talk to us about how you ended up where you are today from your beginning and your career stops, because people like to just assume that you

end up sitting in this seat and they never really know the hard work you put into getting to

where you are. What was the long and windy road to get here truly a product of Detroit idea of well and math and science so as one should if you're black do well and math and science you go into engineering

That's what I did study engineering the University of Michigan,

realized I didn't want to be an engineer,

thought it was interesting, but not something

I want to do for us in my life.

So I took some music theory courses to offset my terrible GPA,

came home and said, mom and dad, I think I want to be a songwriter.

My parents said, you must be smoking crack.

They're no way that's going to happen.

So I finished my engineering degree,
