The essence of my sinful condition is the unwillingness to be told what to do.

I don't want to be told where to find happiness.

I don't want to be told this choice will ruin my life, that choice will make my life.

I will not be told what to do. I will tell me what to do.

If a rebellious heart lies at the core of our sinful condition, what's the solution?

Paul says, you gotta die to the law. You to die to the law.

You got to die to the law.

Put your whole life on a different footing.

Not a letter footing, not a law footing, but a spirit footing, a Christ footing.

A whole different approach towards love.

A whole different approach towards making the marriage work. A whole different approach towards love. A whole different approach towards making the marriage work.

A whole different approach towards parenting.

Whole different approach towards getting along at the office.

A whole different approach towards teaching school or being a student.

You've got to get your whole life on a different footing than law.

Because if you don't die to the law, you will turn the law into the instrument of defeating its own demands.

Why? Can we figure this out? Can we get into the head of Paul here and say, what?
