I spent in the house like it was yesterday. My friend had to leave on business right after we moved in,

so I was alone for the first time in a place so far removed from the busy streets I was used to.

It was the first home I'd ever lived in, on my own, and the first time I'd ever been, in a detached

house in a new, unfamiliar neighborhood. The house was at the very edge of the subdivision, with

nothing behind it but dense, wild wetlands.
