Liverpool this week released a summary of their annual accounts, which showed a record £533m turnover, and a pre-tax profit of £42m, despite the fact the club spent £223m on players. So armed with those headline figures, Paul Wheelock picks up the phone to leading football finance expert Kieran Maguire to see what this will mean for the Reds' summer transfer business, and whether it could bring an end to the financial dominance enjoyed by the Manchester clubs, United and City, in the Premier League. And, naturally, with City being Liverpool's main rivals on the pitch, Kieran also provides a fascinating insight into the Etihad outfit's upcoming legal battle with UEFA after they were banned from European club competitions for two years.
