What is the process of the roster building and the value of each position for NFL teams?

Adam, welcome in.

How are you doing today?

Josh, I hope you're well.

Yeah. So Mike L and I over the years,

Mike would come into free agency and say, hey,

like how do the Eagles prioritize these signings? And I always joke with them. Well, Mike,

it's who are they feeling it signed. But the reality is, Josh,

that it comes down to positional value and how they put it together

their value board.

So the late great Gil Brown, the Hall of Fame personnel man, long-time personnel man

for over 30 years with the Cowboys told me many years ago.

When I started my career, I sat we were speaking in the fantasy football conference of all things. And so Gil was great. He's like you asked me, and I said, how in the world did you put these, remember the great, the great Cowboys teams of the 70s, Gil was the architect of those teams. So how did you do it? He goes, well, we came up with a value system. I said,

well, can you explain that? He goes, well, you're, I'm sure he goes, I'm sure you know that quarterback's most important. I said, yeah, you got that Roger Stalbuck, Danny White. I get that. But he goes, look, it's quarterback first, it's offensive left tackle second. I said, well, how did you come up with that? It goes because you have to protect your right-hand and quarterback's

blindside. I said, well, how did you come up with that? It goes because you have to protect your right-hand and quarterback's blindside.

I said, and then you need the guy who will go up against him the right defensive end.

I said, well, how did you come up with all this?

He said, it's all about the quarterback of the most value in what you have to do to protect him.

And then, how do you get after the quarterback?

Well, you get a right defensive end to go against
