Friends, I've said to you often before that I don't like Puritannism.

I don't like these systems of religious thought that are fussy and moralizing and dualistic,

attend to say the things of this world are evil, to be morally and spiritually upright.

We have to flee from the world.

I don't like those systems, but you know something about Puritannism.

It pops up on a very regular basis throughout history.

I'm reading a book right now on Michelangelo.

And when Michelangelo is a young man, Savana Rola ran the city of Florence.

Savana Rola was a Dominican friar who preached a very puritanical message.

And for a few years, he imposed a very strict discipline on the city of Florence.

Just a few decades after Savana Rola, there was Calvin, John Calvin, the great Protestant
