| 0:00.0 | In 2022 it seems that every few months there's a recall. It's a recall of a car, a recall of a product, and even recalls of foods. |
| 0:09.0 | That's right, it seems every few months a restaurant, a food delivery service, or potentially a product that's found on the shelves is being brought back because of a recall. |
| 0:18.8 | More often than not, these food-borne related recalls are due to contaminations. |
| 0:24.3 | These contaminations can be due to the food itself, potentially an employee being sick and |
| 0:28.6 | spreading it to restaurantiers, or it could simply just be bad hygiene. |
| 0:33.0 | But whatever the reason, it tends to happen pretty often. |
| 0:36.0 | This week is no different with a food delivery service being in the news |
| 0:40.0 | for getting around 470 people so far that we know of getting sick. |
| 0:44.6 | This food delivery service basically is a consumer direct brand that relied on a network of basically |
| 0:50.0 | online influencers to promote its products. |
| 0:52.6 | Earlier this month they had a voluntary recall of a lentil and leak crumble product |
| 0:57.8 | and numerous influencers have actually been starting to spread information |
| 1:01.3 | that they spent time in hospitals with mysterious symptoms that have been puzzling |
| 1:05.2 | both physicians, these symptoms have included gastrointestinal pain, and elevated liver enzymes. |
| 1:10.7 | Some of the patients even require their gallbladders to be removed. |
| 1:13.0 | When you hear about the symptoms initially, they have GI distress and some have jaundice. |
| 1:18.0 | You start thinking hepatitis A or potentially some other infectious cause. |
| 1:22.0 | However, most of the testing has been negative. |
| 1:24.6 | And as I've always said, it's good to never let a disaster go to waste. |
| 1:29.0 | And so in this case, I figure let's take some inspiration from the news, |
| 1:32.3 | and hopefully all those 450 plus people who did get sick from this exposure will recover and the company will do what needs to do to make it right. |
