Hello again, I'm Warren Alney. As a candidate for president, Donald Trump promised to staff the White House with those he called the very best people available. But the turnover since he took office is setting records. Almost 60% of the original staff is gone. Seven cabinet members have departed. Mr. Trump himself has

openly regretted hiring his own attorney general, and he's tweeted that Jeff Sessions is weak

and disgraceful. Most recently, he has disparaged Omerasa Monagold Newman after paying her a top

salary despite a lack of observable qualifications

and what's happened since this often repeated pledge to do what so many other

candidates have failed to accomplish. Drain the swamp. Funny how that term caught on

isn't it? I told I tell everyone I hated it. Somebody said drain the swamp I said oh

that's so hokey. That is so terrible. I said, all right, I'll try it. So like a month ago, I said,

Drain the swamp. Place went crazy. I said, whoa.

That was Donald Trump just after he had been elected president with the help of Paul Manafort,

who was his choice, of course, to chair his campaign at a crucial moment.

Manafort worked without pay, but he left amid rumors about a possibly checkered past. His trial

will be the stuff of history. One New York writer says it is cast new light on a uniquely

Washington form of kleptocracy.

So, whatever the verdict, what has the Manafort trial revealed beyond just what he's done

and what happens in Washington? Well, I think the most important thing it is tied down is we had a
