I think it's because I feel like I was a couple of degrees of separation from Rob and Andrew Kissel.

Years ago, I was living in London and I dated someone who knew Rob Kissel really well.

Like Rob, this guy was a banker

living in Hong Kong. I went to Hong Kong to visit him a few times and I really got a window into that

world. My friend talked about what a nice guy Rob was and how a lot of people believe that Nancy was

the volatile one in the relationship, but they were still shocked at the brutal way that he was murdered.

One of the reasons I thought this case was so timely was because I, along with the rest of the world,

had been waiting for the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard trial to reach its epic conclusion.

I haven't been following the whole thing as obsessively as some people.

My mom, for example, has watched the entire trial

from start to finish, but I have seen the highlights. This is not a commentary on the Depp

Hurd trial, by the way. I have no idea what went on behind closed doors, and obviously, thankfully,

no one ended up dead. But I thought that the questions that it raised about female on male domestic violence
