hook-handed killer almost nabbed a couple at a make-out point just a few years ago.

You know, thanks to sites like Snopes.com and hopefully to the work by the good people at Skeptic magazine and the unaffiliated

but similarly focused Skeptical Inquire magazine, it's very easy nowadays to find out

whether mysterious stories are true or not.

And while we frequently looked into the veracity of such tales on monster talk,

we spent very little time looking at the actual study of folklore.

Until now.

It's actually quite unlike anything we've ever seen before.
