Greetings. I'm very excited to say that we're here to announce the nine albums nominated for the very first folk album of the Year Award.

0:19.0

And I'm delighted that with me is the singer and songwriter Kelly Weil,

0:22.6

who is chair of our partners in this award, Sound Roots,

0:25.6

and has also been chairing the jury of 12 good people

0:28.6

who've been selecting the nominees for the award.

0:31.6

It's lovely to have you on the call, Kelly.

0:33.6

0:35.6

0:57.2

1:02.8

but they'd done it. They've come up with a list of nine, which I think really showcases the breadth

1:08.1

of folk music from right across the UK and Ireland and all the

1:11.7

different styles and backgrounds and types of folk music we have. So I think it looks really

1:15.9

exciting. And before we reveal the nominees, just the reminders of the makeup of the jury,

1:21.2

what sort of people have been making these choices? Twelve juries, all very distinguished

1:25.7

in their fields. They represent Scotland, Wales, Ireland and England.

1:31.2

We've got journalists, musicians, authors, broadcasters, festival and gig promoters.

1:36.8

So from all of those fields, a thoroughly professional eclectic and influential group.

1:43.3

Okay, well, let's, without more ado, find out which nine albums they have nominated as folk

1:48.8

albums of the year 2025. How are you going to do this?
