Have you noticed how much visual stimulation comes your way every day?

Author Nancy Guthrie has noticed it and warns that unbiblical thinking can slip in as we take in all the shiny pictures.

Discernment is needed, isn't it, today, in regard to the fact that we're visual people.

And women, I don't know if it's

more than men necessarily but we have an eye for beauty and our eyes these days are being

trained in very significant ways through Instagram perhaps nothing more than Pinterest Pinterest, right? I mean, you look at

Pinterest and I want my dining room table to look that way and I want my bedroom to look that way

and I want the birthday cake I make for my kids to look that way. I want to look that way.

Nancy Guthrie says it's not necessarily wrong to be attracted to beauty. We're made that way.

God made us as people to have eyes for beauty. In fact, don't you love that verse? When David,

he's able to pray for one thing and he says, this is the one thing. The one thing I want that I want to

ask God for more than anything else is that

I may dwell in the house of the Lord forever to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord. We were

made to gaze upon beauty. But I think sometimes some of the things that attract our eye

in terms of beauty right now, sometimes there is a beauty there that doesn't

necessarily indicate there's a great substance there. There's something beautiful, but I think

what we always have to ask ourselves is, is the beauty of Christ uniquely put on display in that?

So, in a visual culture, we always need to be on guard to be evaluating everything in light of God's
