At the end of the week, Washington empties out fast. Lawmakers, staffers, they're all heading home.

Hey everybody, welcome back to the Punch Bowl News Townhouse for another episode of Flyout Day.

It was a late one for the house last night, although not nearly as late as it could have been,

but the U.S. government is finally open again after a 43-day shutdown.

I'm solo today. This is the first episode of Fly Out Day Solo in Punch Bowl News's history.

Anna is on the road in Texas. We are participating in our second year of full programming to help kick off the Texas Tribune Festival in Austin, Texas.

One of my favorite cities, I'm not bitter at all.

Fish, Grateful Dead, the Jam band scene, different golf equipment reviews.

I'm kidding.

We have House Majority Whip Tom Emmer in the townhouse today.

He's been navigating the shutdown with this leadership team, and his role as vote counter was critical last night.
