Summary

This week the main event is a chat with John Herzer, owner of Blackfoot River Outfitters and one of the savviest anglers and guides I know. John talks about late fall and winter fishing in the Missoula area, although the solid tips he gives would work anywhere in the world when you encounter colder conditions. Also in the Fly Box we discuss wet flies vs. nymphs and when to use them, single-handed steelhead rods that also work for bass and salt water, night fishing for rainbow trout (don’t), native fish species, and my brilliant career picking flies out of carpets.

0:51.0	One is that Orvis is holding a film festival in a number of cities around
0:59.2	the United States. It's called the Down the Hatch Film Festival.
1:03.0	And it's a film festival that we premiere at our guides rendezvous every year in April.
1:10.0	And we felt it's our own film festival. They're not films you'll see in any other film
1:16.6	festivals at least I don't think so that Simon Perkins here at Orvis very talented videographer puts together.
1:25.8	And there's some fun ones, there's some funny ones, there's some exciting ones, there's some
1:31.0	serious ones, but it's a really good festival we thought it was
1:34.5	really too good not to share with the public and not just our guides so we're
1:40.6	going to have festivals on the following cities on the following dates.
1:48.0	And by the way, I'm going to MC or host or whatever, these film festivals, all accept Atlanta.
2:00.0	We really wanted to have Pete Kutzer be the MC because he's better than me at being an
2:06.0	MC, but Pete's got a lot of travel this fall and I wasn't doing anything important.
2:11.4	So they asked me to host the film festivals so anyway and I'm
2:17.0	really looking forward to to seeing some of the podcast listeners at these
