So today we're talking with Anne McClain.

She's US astronaut and an army colonel, and she recently launched to the International Space Station

this December 2018 for her very first spaceflight.

We talked about her education studying mechanical and aeronautical engineering, her time in the United

States Army flying 20 different

Rotary and fixed-wing aircraft, and her training and expectations before her first trip to space.

Oh, thank you for having me. Well, I kind of want to start with your life because Spokane, Washington,

I actually don't know much about it. What was it like growing up there?

Spokane, Washington is nestled in Eastern Washington. We'd like to think it's the best kept

secret but I think the secret's getting out. It's a beautiful city very

outdoorsy all four seasons so in the summer we were always out playing in the parks

and the pools and in the winter we were always out playing in the parks and the pools and in the winter we were always out skiing and sledding and it was just a great place to grow up.
