But let's talk about some defense alignment. This will be a fun preview.

0:44.0

Pretty consistent theme that we've enjoyed doing almost all of these just the fans in us because there's a lot of good players on this roster, but this one will be will be interesting to look at and two areas with kind of unique strengths and yeah, man, let's let's let's do it. Let's jump into this defense line preview.

1:04.0

Let's let's let's do this thing. So I want to go over some numbers with you if if you allow me and I wanted to sort of kind of set the groundwork for where you were last year and where we're going into.

1:17.0

I'm going to read you some numbers.

1:19.0

Derek McClendon, 509 snaps.

1:23.0

Last year, Robert Cooper, 385 Malcolm Ray, 333 Leonard Warner, 293 again, these are defensive defensive only so not including special teams.

1:37.0

Jared Jackson, 156 and then you got guys that play just in garbage time.

1:46.0

I mean, Robert Cooper was a great seminal right and went through like a lot and played through a lot of a lot of injury last year.

1:54.0

Didn't he just get resigned by the Seahawks again that I hope remember when we were doing our draft preview, I had mentioned that I had had lunch with a couple current players and they had mentioned that the Seahawks were particularly keen on Cooper.

2:06.0

And that that might be a scheme that he could fit in. So good to see that to your point, a player particularly after injury last year that was very, very limited.

2:17.0

100% and then you know, look at the preview magazines. What are they going to tell us? They're going to say, hey, you know, Jared verse.

2:24.0

Jared verse is stud. There's no doubt about it. Jared verse 386 snaps last year. Jared verse 386 Robert Cooper 385.

2:35.0

Your top defensive guy on the defensive line was McClendon at 509. I know they like to rotate a lot, particularly of Odell, but last year you had a lot of guys playing who were just not, you know, particularly high little players.

2:50.0

They also played Dennis Briggs 325 snaps, right? And Dennis Briggs was just not back to the player that he was in 2021 before he got cheap shot by, we figured out if it's another name or Louisville, I'm trying to remember I was in the box for this.

3:06.0

I thought it was Louisville, but okay. Hard to remember.

3:10.0

So, look, last year's D line had some really good moments. I thought they stood up pretty well against LSU. They actually stood up kind of well against NC State at times, right? And then at times not.

3:24.0

And I mean, obviously they destroyed Miami. They destroyed a bunch of offenses that were not particularly great and situationally not particularly great.

3:33.0

But there were some times as well in which the defensive line was not impactful or at least not in a positive way.

3:41.0

You know, Florida at times was able to do things to him. You know, Wake Forest was not significantly impacted by this defensive line. Oklahoma, despite missing multiple draft pick starters, was really rather unfazed by this D line.
