Hello everyone, this is Alex Wagner. I have been on the road for weeks, what feels like a lifetime covering the midterm elections, and I am back even though the midterm election is not actually over yet.

Votes are still being counted in races in Florida, Georgia, New York, Mississippi, California, Texas, and Utah.

But we're going to focus on one in particular, the state of Florida, where there are

recounts for both the governorship and a Senate seat. Today we're going to look

more deeply at that recount, and we're also going to look back at one of the most

consequential ones in American history,

Bush v Gore, and how American politics was never the same again.
