Summary

Flau’jae Johnson, LSU’s star shooting guard and recording artist extraordinaire, joins us to talk about how her last year in college is preparing her for the WNBA; her approach to managing NIL money; and why she is pouring just as much discipline and determination into her music career. Megan and Sue take a closer look at the surprising decline in participation in girls’ basketball, and offer a few thoughts on how the system, parents, and schools might be contributing to it.  And in honor of Valentine’s Day this weekend, Megan and Sue rank their favorite Valentine’s gifts and The Greatest Sportsmances of all time. Plus, they give a little behind-the-scenes look at what it’s really like to date a pro athlete. .  A Touch More: The Podcast is produced in partnership with VOX MEDIA and TOGETHXR. Hey everybody, welcome back to the show. We have a fun one today for you. It is almost Valentine's Day, so we're going to talk a little bit about that. And yeah, we've got someone we love. So it's perfect timing. We love Flaje Johnson. And she is joining the show. We're also going to be looking, Sue, at the numbers around high school basketball girls participation, which is dropping, which is tough and

1:31.6

kind of surprising. And we're just going to be throwing stuff at the wall today and trying to

women's sports is growing so much.

1:53.4

That's really all we have for the intro. It's time to start the show. I'm Megan Rapina.

Now, we want to recognize that these numbers aren't perfect. It's based on self-reporting, but there is another study that shows an even bigger decline, and this decline has been recorded since 2022.

2:37.7

And by the way, there's also a decline among boys participating, which I feel like is going to inform something for me later, albeit a much smaller dip.

2:47.3

Oh.
