The first thing I said was it has to be in Richard's POV because I went down a rabbit

hole of Richard Montaignez in real life and he's funny and he's uneducated, but man,

is he smart?

He didn't understand a lot of corporate America, you know, and structure and protocol.

And that's why he broke it because he was like, what is protocol?

I don't even know what that means.

I never wanted to make a movie about the Flaming Hotchito.

I wanted to make a movie about Richard Montanieres because his life is very interesting.

Like he shouldn't even be alive, much less successful.

in director Eva Longoria's biographical drama, Flamen Hot.

The film tells the true story of how a former Frito-Lay janitor disrupted the food industry

by channeling his Mexican

heritage to create Flamen Hot Cheetos and an iconic global pop culture phenomenon.

In addition to Flamen Hot, Longoria's other directorial credits include the movie for television,

glamorous, the documentary Latinos Living the American Dream,

and episodes of Why Women Kill, Blackish, The Mick, and Jane the Virgin.

Following a screening of the film at the DGA Theater in Los Angeles, Longoria spoke with director

Patricia Cardoso about filming Flamen Hot.
