Have you ever thought about where your beliefs really come from?

0:15.2

Why do we dress the way that we dress, eat the food that we eat, and do the things that we do on a regular basis.

0:23.1

Our ideas about how things are, quote, supposed to be, are embedded in us from our culture.

0:29.7

Culture is defined as the attitudes, values, beliefs, and behaviors shared by a group of people

0:35.6

and then spread from one generation to the next.

0:40.2

Movies are a great example of generational influence.

0:44.6

The very first movie I ever remember watching, and I just realized this recently, I was around

0:52.0

four years old, was the karate kid. All right, I was at my grandmother's

0:57.4

house. She popped it in on the VHS and I watched that movie and I was riveted. I remember this being

1:05.6

the first movie experience that I ever had. And of course, I know that I saw movies before that,

1:09.4

but I remembered this viscerally because of course I was doing the crane kick like a mofo after that movie was over.

1:18.1

That movie influenced me to want to get into martial arts. As it did for many people, it just

1:25.2

created a movement of interest in karate in various forms of martial

1:30.7

1:37.7

generations over the years in different forms. And one just

1:48.2

came out recently and my family actually took me as a surprise for Father's Day and they wouldn't

1:53.6

let me see what it was. I was just like, what's the big deal? Like, you don't got to hide what the

1:57.3

2:01.4

either. And I was just waiting and just waiting to see what was going to pop up on the screen.
