Summary

On the heel's of last week's episode describing the budding relationships of real listeners in quarantine, we return this week with five more stories of love in a time of isolation. From matchmaking to uncertainty to an accidental "I love you," each of these stories is the raw detailing of how it's not, in fact, impossible to find love despite a complete lack of human interaction. * * * Shop Sunday Scaries: www.sunday-scaries.com/shop Sunday Scaries Twitter: www.twitter.com/sundayscaries Sunday Scaries Instagram: www.instagram.com/sunday.scaries Will deFries Twitter: www.twitter.com/willdefries Will deFries Instagram: www.instagram.com/willdefries * * * Raycon: www.buyraycon.com/scaries (SCARIES15 of 15% off) Manscaped: www.manscaped.com (SCARIES for 20% Off + Free Shipping) * * * All music by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ Podcast artwork by Alfonso Ruiz (www.alfonsoruizbook.com) and Tristan Pigott (www.tristanpigott.com)

My name is Will DeFries and this is the Sunday Scaries Podcast, your cure for the Sunday Blues.

There's a movie called Two Night Stand. I'm not sure if you've heard of it or if you've

0:18.3

even seen it, but it's not the best romantic comedy that I've ever seen. The Apple TV

0:23.6

description is, quote, a snowstorm forces two people who made an online connection to unwillingly

0:28.9

extend their One Night Stand as the Blizzard goes through the night. It's starring Miles Teller

0:33.5

and I have to admit, as much as I do like Miles Teller, it's just not that great of a movie,

0:37.9

but that's okay. I love the idea behind it. The original basis for a column that I wrote called

0:43.8

Hybernation Girlfriend was kind of derived from this movie. In Michigan, when I was living their

0:49.2

way back, probably it was six years ago and it was one of the coldest winters that I'd experienced

0:54.0

in a long time. At one point, I remember looking on Snapchat when, you know, people actually use

0:58.6

Snapchat and the temperature on Snapchat was negative 23 degrees. While I've been in colder weather,

1:05.2

not much colder weather, it was still the coldest I'd been in a very, very long time. Someone that

1:10.9

was single, me, and just the idea that I wanted to be with somebody, which, you know, kind of

1:16.0

lingered throughout most of my 20s, caused me to go on Sunday, scary and write a blog post that was

1:21.6

soliciting a Hybernation Girlfriend. Really, I just wanted a girlfriend. And so what was in that

1:27.4

application that people could actually fill out and submit to me were what streaming passwords they

1:32.5

had, what cold weather, drink of choice they had, their favorite rom coms, lazy Sunday,

1:38.0

outfit of choice, and more. I go back and I read a lot of those columns from way back when,

1:43.1

and honestly, I cringe and this one is not different in that respect. Right now, the

1:49.2

circumstances have taken presidents over convenience when it comes to actually dating and making those

1:53.9

online connections like you found in two-night stand. And the things that come out of those

1:58.0

circumstances can oftentimes be surprising. Five months after writing that column, I met the woman
