Summary

Clad in a Texas flag shirt, Carl and his button-down-wearing cohost Todd welcome their good friend Rosaria Butterfield back to the podcast to discuss her latest book, Five Lies of Our Anti-Christian Age. In this powerful book, Rosaria uses Scripture to confront cultural lies she once believed about sexuality, faith, feminism, gender roles, and modesty. Tune in to hear why Rosaria says it’s more important than ever that women see the truth about who God created them to be. Congratulations to Kristin P. from Haskell, OK and Stephen K. from Saint Augustine, FL , the winners of our giveaway for a copy of Rosaria's book, Five Lies of Our Anti-Christian Age, provided by Crossway Books!

Let's join this week's conversation.

Thank you. You are listening to Mortification of Spin. My name is Todd Pruitt. I'm the pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Harrisonburg, Virginia. And I'm joined as always by my friend Carl Truman, who is professor at Grove City College in Western Pennsylvania. Carl, good to see you. Now, Carl, earlier as we were talking, and of course, I can see you via the

wonderful technology that we have in front of us. You are wearing a shirt that brings a tear to my

1:21.3

eye. I am a native of Texas. Though I live in Virginia, I love Virginia. It's a wonderful,

1:30.0

it's a wonderful suburb of Texas. You know, there's a, there's a place, you know,

1:34.9

there will always be a piece of my heart in, in the lone star state. And I have to say

1:41.6

the, the dual realities, one, of you recently becoming a U.S. citizen.

1:49.3

And secondly, you wearing a shirt that has an enormous Texas flag across the back brings a tear of joy to my eyes.

I'm filled with frivolity and happiness. There's a story

2:05.7

behind the shirt. A couple of weeks ago, I was giving some lectures at a church in Houston on the

2:13.4

self, and of course, touching on LGBTQ issues, and American Airways kindly lost my luggage.

2:20.2

And so the only thing I had to wear that morning to give the election, would you believe,

2:23.9

was yesterday's shirt and my rainbow sweater that I love that has no political connotations

2:29.9

whatsoever. I just love my rainbow sweater. But you heart. As you can imagine, I'm standing at the

2:35.1

front wearing this rainbow sweater, all kinds of jokes being made. So somebody took pity on me.

2:41.3

And at lunchtime, I was presented with a couple of shirts that he'd gone out and bought,

2:45.8

one of which has the Texas flag on the back. So in the afternoon, I got up on stage wearing my rainbow sweater.

2:51.9

I declared, oh, I'm a bit warm. I turned around, took my sweater off, revealed the Texas

2:55.8

flag. The whole place went crazy. Of course they did. The stars at night are big and bright.

3:00.0

It reminded me of that impromptu Willie Nelson concert I happened to be present at in Billy Bob's

3:05.8

in Fort Worth many, many years ago,
