I'm Jay Warner Wallace.

This week we're going to talk about something that I often challenge my audiences with.

You know, I ask them, why are you a Christian?

And I get all kinds of different answers, but I very seldom get answers that have anything

to do with the evidence for or against Christianity.

Most of the time, these are answers that are rather emotional, and sometimes, to be honest,

they sound just like the kinds of answers that other theistic believers like Mormons would give. They'll say, I was born and raised in Christianity, or I have had an experience that I think

I've interpreted to mean that Christianity is true. Well, these are good reasons that all of us can give,

but these are also the reasons that other believers give. And I think we're in a day and age when

those reasons are just not going to be sufficient, especially when you've got good evidence to support why you're a believer. But if I asked you, can you give me five reasons why you believe the Bible is true, for example? Could you give that answer? Well, this show tonight is going to give you five reasons why the Bible is true. And I'm doing this hopefully so that when someone asks you, why are you a Christian, you can say, well, because I believe what the Bible teaches me, and here's five reasons why I trust it. Here's five reasons why I believe it to be true. I think that's a good place to start when you're talking about why you would believe a system that's grounded in the authority of an ancient document. Well, why do you believe

the ancient document? Let's talk about that today. We're going to jump right in because we've got

five reasons I want to cover. Here's the first reason why I think all of us could say we believe

the Bible is reliable. It's written early. Now here I'm talking about the New Testament because

as Christians, we are Christ
