This week we're covering a number of tragic cases and one terrifying survival story.

One of the first big true crime stories of this year was what became known as the Enoch

Eighth, a family slaying in January in Utah in which Michael Hate shot and killed seven

members of his family, including his five children before turning the gun on himself.

Last week, a similar tragedy took place in Union Town, Ohio, a small town about 20 miles

south of Akron.

At approximately 7.30 pm last Thursday, August 24, police responded to a wellness check

at the home of the Dunham family and found a scene of horror.

According to a police release, it had been a quote, domestic dispute that turned deadly.

All five members of the family had died from gunshot wounds and included a nine-year-old

boy, Evan, and 12 and 15-year-old girls Amber and Renee.

Neighbors called wife Melissa Dunham, quote, wonderful mother.

She was a partner at a nearby accounting firm and had received numerous professional

accolades, such as a 30 for the future award from the Greater Akron Chamber of Commerce.

The inter-daughters were involved with the Girl Scouts.

In addition to her membership in the Girl Scouts, 15-year-old Renee was a member of the

marching band and the jazz band.

Her sister Amber was in middle school and was also in band, and she also ran cross-country.

Nine-year-old Evan was a boy scout, and according to an obituary loved reading, video games,

and could solve a Rubik's Cube in two minutes.
