Fishy had been sitting all alone on its shelf for 10 days when the woman walked in.

She had long curly black hair pulled back in a ponytail and wore jeans and a grey sweater.

Her face was puffy and her eyes were red, but Fisci still recognized her from the photo on Dr.

Peretz's desk, his daughter, Ada. She stood in the doorway to Dr. Peretz's home office,

blinking in the low light, shoulders sagged.
