Summary

JP Finlay, Mitch Tischler and Pete Hailey watched (most) of Washington's roster get after it in the first OTAs session of 2021, and now they're here to report on it. During the opening part of the show, the hosts run through their many observations, which include thoughts on the offense's improved speed, Dyami Brown's big play, some intriguing lineups along the O-line, the absences of Chase Young and Montez Sweat and Landon Collins' participation level. The guys also quickly chat about Julio Jones' trade market and recap a heated segment featuring Pete on JP's radio show. After that, they toss to JP's 1-on-1 with Jack Del Rio, which was recorded soon after the club selected Jamin Davis, so you'll hear the coordinator's thoughts on his newest linebacker. If you like podcasts where Mitch does an unreal job, even for him, of finding the bright spot in a not-exactly-bright situation, then this is the episode for you.

How good was it to be back on a football field, not at kind of joky, rookie mini camp, but a real deal OTA session.

1:43.2

No, it was great. I mean, being out there with 80 plus players and they broke into real deal 11 on 11 and you got some of the excitement that we get to see sometimes during during training camp during practice. It was awesome.

1:55.2

Yeah, I kind of smell bad. I have crinkled up notes, a folded up roster, a lot of water that I drink and felt really good to be watching football and some slight heat and having plenty to talk about here with our listeners.

2:08.2

I didn't, I wouldn't really call that heat. I thought it was damn pleasant out there as did right.

2:13.2

Yeah, Fitz, he talked about it was a Disney movie out there. So I want to jump right into it. We have an interview with Jack Del Rio coming up at the bottom of the park at the end of the podcast, I guess.

2:24.2

We talked to Jack right after they'd selected Jamie Davis and have kind of waited until the right time to roll it out. I think now is that time.

2:32.2

But to me kind of one big thing jumped out and one little thing jumped out. So my big thing was just that this team was all about getting faster this all season.

2:44.2

Ron wants more tempo, Ron wants more speed on the field. And I kind of started to see some of that, especially at wide out.

2:54.2

I think up and down the wide out roster, the wide opposition group, they've made adjustments to get faster and I'd say better.

3:03.2

And I think when you're watching football in May, you got to be really, really cognizant of not drawing too much of a conclusion too early.

3:12.2

But when you see the speed on the field, it's real. That's not something that will dissipate.

3:19.2

Somebody being faster not is not a factor of going up against a undrafted second year practice squad player that is not indicative of what the competition will look like in October.

3:32.2

Speed is speed and they're starting to get it.

3:35.2

The other thing that kind of jumped out to me and this is a little weird, but the Morgan Moses personified it not seeing him out there.

3:44.2

Like I saw Brandon Sheriff, but they really have turned this roster over and not seeing Moses out there who was always kind of that big smile, that big laugh.

3:54.2

Like even in the COVID year last year where we don't get to interact with anybody, you still notice Moses on the field.

4:01.2

And that one just kind of stood out to me him not being there.
