We begin with Lady Bird Johnson, the 36th First Lady of the United States.

Born Claudia Taylor in 1912, Lady Bird grew up in Texas and married Lyndon Johnson,

a young congressional aide with big ambitions in 1934.

We drove out to Arlington.

There were long, long lines of solemn, respectful people

all along the hill in Robert Lee's home

as we wound up to the grave site.

The grave site was covered with flowers. We got out and put our flowers

down. We stood a moment in silence. And then we turned around and left. He'd sang our own word

to the beautiful vista of Washington, is that they spread out below us.
