Summary

Hank Hanegraaff, president of the Christian Research Institute and host of the Bible Answer Man broadcast, reflects on the significance of the U. S. State Department having issued the first passport with a gender designation “X.” This monumental decision is analogous to a submarine earthquake—barely noticeable on the surface of the water above—that triggers a catastrophic tsunami. The United States government has now effectively determined that one can no longer designate the gender of a human being on the basis of biology, but henceforth one self-designates gender on the basis of introspection and autonomous will. In other words, individuals choose wholly apart from objective evidence to subjectively self-designate gender as male, female, or something altogether other. Christians must speak up.

Hi, this is Hank Hanegraff, president of the Christian Research Institute and host of the Bible Instrument broadcast with another Hank unplug short.

0:22.4

This morning I read in the newspaper of an event that has a seismic effect on human civilization.

0:33.2

The U.S. government has determined that one can mark their passport with either an M, an F, or an X.

0:45.1

Before I talk about that a little more, let me simply say this, that when I read about this seismic decision, I couldn't help but think of an illustration

0:59.2

that I read in James Mitchner's novel titled Hawaii.

1:04.3

It's a novel about a thousand pages long, and in the novel, Michner chronicles what happened in

1:12.6

Hawaii in 1946. There was a, well, this Alaskan submarine earthquake beneath the ocean that created only a slight swell on the surface of the ocean.

1:32.3

So you have this incredible tumult beneath the surface and only a slight reaction on the ocean water itself.

1:49.0

Had a tanker beneath which the three-inch swell passed

1:55.0

actually noticed what happened deep beneath the ocean?

2:02.7

Catastrophe may have been averted.

2:12.4

Instead, an epic tsunami moved towards the Hawaiian islands at a pace approaching the speed of sound.

2:21.4

And in the end, its connect energy would pile water 70 feet deep on the land before sucking everything from humans to houses back into the ocean with what Michener described as demonic

2:27.9

force.

2:30.4

And ironically, the first sign that a tsunami was approaching was just a few fish floundering about in an empty reef, their tails whipping the water in almost comical fashion.

2:44.7

In other words, the sign didn't seem all that significant.

2:51.6

And that again is an illustration, which I think codifies what happened yesterday.

3:02.6

Again, yesterday, Wednesday, October 27, 2021.

3:10.9

Because prior to yesterday, when a woman, like my daughter-in-law, for example, becomes pregnant

3:22.5

and has an ultrasound and asks, is it a boy or a girl, the answer, well, is objective?

3:35.1

If you ask the ontological question, what is it?

3:41.6

Well, all you have to do is look.
